July 4th

On Wednesday night, we watched fireworks! You can see them really well from our church property, so after our services we walked across the parking lot and set up our lawn chairs...

Lots of people come to watch them here.
Lauren... Not sure what she was saying, lol.
Pretty sky!
Me and my bestie Makenzie being silly...

On Thursday, we went to my great grandma's to spend time with family.

Playing badminton...

I had no idea my picture was being taken... Thanks, Sarah, thanks.
You CAN play badminton in a long skirt, by the way.

We had a funny thing happen... The younger kids were playing Ladder Toss, and they managed to get some of the... oh what do you call them... strings? Well they managed to get three of them stuck on the power lines.

The guys all trying to figure out how to get them down.

After throwing frisbees at it (we all laughed and said it was a new game), Papa (my grandpa) got a big stick and tried to get them down... Only he got the stick stuck... it was quite hilarious. Eventually, he managed to get them all down!

My great-grandma.

My mom saw me taking pictures of the birdie and she said, "Kathryn, you take pictures of the strangest things." :D

Any favorite photos?

you know you're a writer when...

I have so many goals as a writer. One of them is to make my characters SO real, that if they get killed, my reader will cry like I did when Sergeant Quick died in Queen Sheba's Ring by H. Rider Haggard.

I was in love with that character. Not 'in love' like you might think. But I was in love with him as a writer. I loved his character. The way Henry Haggard described him. He was so real.

Yes, maybe to you I am being a little dramatic. But there is nothing quite so tragic as the killing off of a favorite character.

And unfortunately, sometimes it just must be done. I have to do some of that in my current story...

Why am I telling you all this? I'm not really sure... That was just something I wanted to share.

And so here are some things that maybe you, if you are a writer, can relate with.

This is why we writers lock our bedroom door.
All the time...
