awkward and awesome friday?

So, I'm a day late. Whatever.

Awkward:

1. Singing Scarborough Fair in what I thought was an empty hallway... when in reality there was a teacher nearby that probably heard it all...

2. Complaining to my dad that he "kissed" the dog goodnight before he kissed me.

"But I already kissed you! Remember?"

"Oh... Right."

My friends don't call me Dori for nothing, guys.

3. Accidentally commenting on one of my sister's piano student's parent, when they were still in the living room... oops.

4. Accompanying the little kid's choir, and the director saying, "lets do a scale in whole notes." I obviously wasn't playing close enough attention, as all the little 5 and 6 year-old's sang whole notes and I accidentally started played half notes. *wants to sink under the piano*

5. When your little sister is always coming up to you and saying, "Gettin' kinda chubby!", just like the mom on Tangled.

Awesome:

1. Finally getting to the climax point in my novel.

2. Watching I Love Lucy every night with my siblings.

3. Converting a friend to a Trekkie.

4. Learning (sort of) how to count to 10 in Afrikaans.

5. This song, because I love this movie.

happy birthday, jill.

Happy Birthday to the best violin teacher ever!!

I started violin lessons in 2007. I still remember my first lesson, where I learned all about Mississippi Hop Frog and not to touch your bow hairs.

My first book recital.

Happy Birthday, Jill!! Thanks for all you do :)

me.

You know, I can be a little weird.

Well, maybe a lot weird.

I suppose it's the writer/always-wanted-to-be-an-actress side of me.

Yeah, that is me being the damsel in distress, locked in her tower, awaiting the rescue of her little cousins, who are princes. The sad thing is, I don't think they did...

But anyway. I suppose there are a quite a lot of odd little things about me that you don't know... Here are a few:

1. It drives me bananas when people use exclamation points too many times! It gets annoying! It's almost like they are always shouting! You don't always have to act so excited! Calm down!

2. I always talk with my hands. And once, because of that, I burned my finger. Long story.

3. I'd much rather have strawberry cheesecake than cheesecake drizzled in chocolate.

4. *sees Josh Groban in person* "Oh, neat!! It's Josh Groban!!"

*sees Lucille Ball in person* *SCREAMS, then faints and is rushed to hospital*

5. I adore anything and everything vintage.

Awkward: Sitting and acting like you are laughing when you really aren't.
6. I was super excited when I found out one of Pluto's moons was named Vulcan.

7. If I had a choice of traveling back in time, I would either go to the 1940s or the 1770s.

8. It sometimes take me a year to finish a novel. (NO, not writing one, reading one.) I know, it's so awful. I'm trying to read more.

9. Picture says it all.

10. I LOVE the library.

11. In public, I make silly faces at babies and toddlers when their parents aren't looking.

12. I cackle.

 13. One of my favorite quotes:

"The difference between the right word and the wrong word is like the difference between lightening and a lightening bug." ~Mark Twain

If you're a writer, you'll understand. If you're not, you'll most likely laugh (like the rest of my family did)

mary.

Despite the cold weather, Mary and I have still been having photoshoots.

These weren't the best, mostly because Mary's teeth were chattering so much, the photos turned out blurry.

But here you go.

And yes, I did edit these ones... :)

I told her to spin with the violin.

Mary: "OH, like the girl on-on-"
Me: "Tangled? When she is finally free from her tower?"
Mary: "No! Like the girl on The Sound of Music! With her guitar!"

She posed like this herself... lol

P.S. I had to play a game of Killer UNO for her to wear the tights. Sisters.

secret story contest entry.

Entering this book cover contest.

Note: The cover, the plot and the author are all fake and something I just randomly made up.

From this book:

"Leave this to us, Miss Parker. There is nothing you can do." The officer walked away, leaving Jeanine with salty tears streaming down her pale face. Daniela placed a loving hand on her arm, but it only sent chills down her spine. She tore away, racing down the hall and into her bedroom. Nothing right now could heal the pain that throbbed in her torn heart.

Jeanine Parker's life turns upside down when her fiance mysteriously disappears on their wedding day. She is filled with shock, confusion, and grief. Will she ever see him again? Join Jeanine and her best friend Daniela as they begin the long search for Robert Jennings, her vanished love.
