Don't Rush

Maybe we want to watch TV.

Maybe we want to check our mail.

Maybe we just want to put another check mark on the to-do list.

Admit it. How many times have you rushed through your devotions, skimming the Bible chapter you were reading, just so you could go do something else? Did you actually meditate and understand at all what you just read?

Don't rush.

It would be better to read one verse and get something from it, than to read a chapter or two and forget what you read as soon as you leave the room.

God has given us 24 hours in a day. Let's not spend all of it on Pinterest or watching TV. Let's not spend all of it on blogger, either.

If you find yourself skimming or rushing through your devotions, stop and think. Why am I rushing? What is more important that reading God's word? Am I putting something else before God?

I'm working on this too, guys. Will you join me? Lets all try to read without rushing.

Great reminder, Kathryn. It WOULD be better to read one verse and it really change your life, than to read a chapter and not get anything from it. Thank you for posting this!

So true. I feel that sometimes I'm rushing through reading my Bible, and not paying attention to what I'm reading. Thanks for the reminder! (:
