Graduation!

Saturday, we had my sister's graduation! It went really well!

During the graduation, Lauren played 3 pieces. A Chopin, a Debussy, and a Mozart.
I just LOVE her dress and silver jacket!

My uncle gave the graduates challenge

And I think I better stop here for a second.
We had a little group put together, playing a beautiful arrangement of To God be the Glory. There was a violin (me) a flute (Sarah) a trumpet, a baritone, a trombone, and Lauren on the piano. We had only practiced a few times together, but I was determined not to make many mistakes. So we get up there, and start playing. I'm playing this part with only the baritone and the piano, when suddenly, something just didn't feel right on my violin. As I played on one of the strings, I definitely knew something wasn't right. I stopped (I shouldn't have, but I was kinda in shock at the time... ehem...) and plucked my D string. Whoa!!! It was sooooo off from what it was supposed to be, it wasn't even funny. I'm sure I was getting some strange looks by then, for stopping in the middle of the song and plucking my string...
For the rest of the song, I couldn't play on that string. It was a good thing I didn't really have to play on it much anyway.
Wondering what happened to it? Well, my string slipped. That means it slipped out of tune. It happens if the violin gets hit, or, for no reason at all.
So, that was very surprising to me. That's almost never happened to me, and it happens when I play in front of a bunch of family and friends....  :)
Anyway, back to pictures!

Oh No!!!! I hate it when I mess up a piano piece in front of everybody too! YIKES I wonder what made your violin do that in the first place?!?

holy oow. you guys made this party
a beautiful hard-to-forget thing.
i'm blown away with all the small details.
like those giant cakes? I can literally smell the buttery vanilla icing.
smells like cream and strawberries in my imagination.
the scrapbooks (made by Sarah right?)
and the posters are so thoughtful and gorgeous.
Lauren, why, she looks like prom queen or something in that gown.

Oh my golly gosh. Sarah cut her hair to my length!
She is so daring, and basically I love that hairstyle on her!
Mr. and Nrs. Henry look happy and pleased here too. *sigh*
okay, end of rant. i have something to say about eveeerry thing
because it's all so pretty.

Congrats on graduating, Lauren!

ps. Tell Sarah...I'm awfully scared to email her, lol. I'm STILL working on the video. Let's just say I have a long way to go with the filming? because, well, i don't want this to look sloppy. And of course, I need batteries (I always need batteries).

wow, i really needed to proofread that.
so. many. typos. and. redundancy.

Haha, Sheean. Your comments always make me smile! And laugh :D
Ah, the cakes! Yes indeed they were plenty good! Not that rich icing, but the sweet creamy kind. Ah, they were superb..
Yes, the display board! Lauren and Sarah did most of the work for that. I glued a few things but that was it.
Dear Mother did one of the scrapbooks, and Sarah and I did the other one! Goodness, did Sarah not tell you about the late-nights of staying up working on the scrapbook? We were so tired and giggly, we laughed at the glue!
Oh, I know!! I envy Lauren for finding such an awesome dress for soooo cheap... And it's my color!!!!!! My tealish blue!!!
Yes, Sarah is always cutting her hair! I can always tell too-you walk into the bathroom and it looks like she went clipper-happy with the scissors-there's hair all over!
Hehe, I love your ranting!! ;)
Love,
Kathryn

P.S. Yes, I shall tell her! She'll love it, I'm sure! Hehe, she just about dies of excitement when you send her boxes full of surprises (OH! Did she tell you how ecstatic I was when she told me that the goooorgeous blue bracelet was for moi? Thank you so much!) or videos or poems!
